Working with clay is like playing, like meditating and like learning. The kind of focus I fall into while I’m throwing, trimming or carving is so pure and precious. Something about it feels like sorting neurons in my brain, like with sleep – everything’s falling into the right place while I’m practicing patience with what is essentially mud. Being able to take such a raw material and turn it into functional art still blows my mind. I am so grateful to have the opportunity and privilege to explore ceramics, and beyond grateful to those who come to look or buy a piece. Each one brought me peace and contentment during its making.
